Amouage, a famous luxury perfume house, was founded in 1983 by the Sultan of Oman, His Highness Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud al bu Said. He strived to create a line of perfumes that re-introduced the Arabian art of perfumery. The name Amouage comes from a combination of the word “amour” and an Arabic word meaning “waves.” The line of perfumes launched by Amouage were developed with traditional ingredients used in that region such as agarwood, incense, musk, rose and spices. Amouage’s first perfume, now called Amouage Gold, was created in 1983 by Guy Robert, a famous French perfumer.
